Just a heads up that our slate today will be looking at the evening games. There are four games that are early that will not be on our radar. Because of how crazy the season is we still have eight games to sift through so do not worry about limited options.
The marquee matchup to watch tonight will be the Tampa Bay Lightning vs the Carolina Hurricanes. Both teams are firing on all cylinders right now and at the very least we cannot suggest either of their goaltenders. We do suggest a bag of popcorn and a couple of our guys that we have behind the paywall. Kick your feet up and join us for some fun!
Here’s an eclectic lineup For DFS Hockey 2/20/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Center | A. Matthews | $8,800
Center | $6,300 | ||
Wing | C. Garland | $6,800 | |
Wing | $3,400 | ||
Wing | $3,400 | ||
Defense | D. Hamilton | $6,900
Defense | $3,100 | ||
Goalie | E. Merzlikins | $7,900
Utility | $3,400 |
It is absolute insanity that Auston Matthews can conceivably score 50 goals in a 56 game season. He is playing some next level hockey and he makes it look effortless. He would not be the same without Mitch Marner who is also crushing it, but who is not making our list today.
This is really a toss up for us so we are going with the cheaper option between Elvis Merzlikins and Jordan Binnington. Merzlikins is having a solid season for Columbus and the matchup against the Predators should have all of you salivating.
Conor Garland is the alpha in Arizona right now. This is his breakout season and should have an interesting matchup against the Kings. The Coyote’s top line is in the groove and we love to see it. His price is hopefully reaching its max but he is still worth it.
Do you like shot takers? Well we have one of the best in the defensive business for you. Dougie Hamilton had a multi year streak of getting at least a shot every game and he had five in his last one. That is worth some big bucks and the power play stud has what it takes to put your team on top.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• A young defenseman who just earned a top pairing spot.
• A good blend of alternatives to give you a higher floor.
• Other top line standouts that most media will miss.
Sebastian Aho – C ($6,300 DK). It is kind of silly that Aho has not made our list yet. We have leaned on his wings who benefit from his hard work so we can save you some cash but we have to go to the source today. Aho is a superstar and an absolute joy to watch play. It is a tough matchup against the Lightning but this is where he sets himself apart and thrives.
Tyler Pitlick – W ($3,400 DK). Just look at his work assisting Phil Kessel’s goal last game to see why we are taking him. He is all hustle and is doing well in the desert. We are hoping he puts together his shot taking and blocking skills today for a full spread.
Joel Armia – W ($3,400 DK). We are big fans of Armia over here and were bummed he missed time at the start of the season. Another pure hard worker this guy can also score. On another team he would be second line but we love his time with Kotkaniemi and what depth he brings to Montreal.
Vladislav Gavrikov – D ($3,100 DK) is our deep science pick of the day. He is a late bloomer from the 2015 draft class but he is top pairing in Columbus with Seth Jones. He is clocking in over 22 minutes a night and has gotten an assist in his last two games. Get after it.
Jordan Greenway – U ($3,400 DK) rounds out our list today. He is top line in Minnesota and is a power forward in the making. He will be blazing a trail for Erikkson Ek to score and we are looking for him to show why he earned those minutes.
Alternative Moves…
Brayden Schenn – C ($6,000 DK). If you are uneasy about Aho’s matchup against Tampa Bay we understand. Schenn has a better matchup against the Sharks and you can save a few hundred bucks to upgrade someone like Gavrikov or Greenway.
Jake Guentzel – W ($5,800 DK) is in a little bit of a drought which means he is due. You cannot stop this kid for long. Things going for him include top line time with Sidney Crosby and first power play duties. Swap him for Garland for more savings and maybe a higher ceiling.
Kris Letang – D ($5,000 DK). Letang is still at a great value with all the upside. Not much else to say there. Swap out Dougie for Kris to afford your last favorite player that did not make our list today.
May your popcorn bowls overflow and your beers be cold. The weekend is officially here and it’s time to relax and enjoy guys skating at high speeds and crashing into each other. Let us know about your setup on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). Cheers.
