Yesterday’s postponement of the matchup between Miami and Boston was a reminder that NBA DFS is not an endeavor where you set a lineup in the morning and walk away for the rest of the day. There are some days when that is possible but you will never know what day that is until all of the games tip off. Tonight brings with a fresh eight game slate of action to begin the week with a profit.

After being sidelined with a knee injury last year it hasn’t been a direct line back to elite status for Victor Oladipo ($6,900 DK, $7,000 FD) in his return. While he has broken the 20-point mark on four occasions Oladipo is averaging “just” 18.2 points per game but it’s not like he has forgotten how to score. It isn’t easy coming back from a major injury and his price has also dropped accordingly which in turn makes him a more attractive option. With 6.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game he does provide a solid floor of production and in a game with a current over/under of 222.5 things do line-up nicely for Oladipo to have one of his better games of the season.

If Luka Doncic ($11,300 DK, $11,500 FD) fits into your GPP lineup then do it. The point guard is coming off a triple-double in his last game with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in what was just a standard day at the office for Doncic who also happens to be averaging a triple-double on the season. In cash games though Doncic is pretty close to a must play.
At this point in the season we already know how this story will be written with Russell Westbrook sidelined tonight. I would say that all Bradley Beal ($9,900 DK, $10,100 FD) has done this season is score but that isn’t giving proper attention to his 5.8 rebounds and five assists per game. But have you seen what Beal is doing on the offensive end as the guard is averaging 39.8 points per game? And with Westbrook sidelined the Wizards will rely even more so on Beal.
We have the star power covered in Washington but we still have a lineup to fill out. In the two previous games Westbrook missed Raul Neto ($4,600 DK, $4,200 FD) was close to automatic with around 30 DFS points but things didn’t go as well on Saturday against Miami. Neto scored just six points with three rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes of play and that is enough to make me think twice but the salary relief in a GPP is welcome.
I promise we will talk about more teams than just Washington but we are drawn to the Wizards with Thomas Bryant now sidelined for the year. Moritz Wagner ($3,600 DK, $4,000 FD) will likely continue to come off the bench but his role is now increased with offensive upside on display. That was the case on Saturday as Wagner scored 13 points while adding seven rebounds in 20 minutes of play. Sign me up for that every day.
We highlighted Nikola Vucevic ($8,800 DK, $9,000 FD) for one of the first times all season the other day and on Saturday the center had perhaps his best game of the season. It was the second 30-point outing for Vucevic in his last five games as the center is averaging 24.2 points per game with Orlando relying on him from an offensive perspective. Vucevic also added 15 rebounds to give him yet another double-double as he is averaging 11 boards on the season.
The names should not be a surprise but we have an interesting battle of the backcourts tonight between Toronto and Portland on Monday. Damian Lillard ($9,700 DK, $9,600 FD) is the best player but in a game with an over/under of 230 that will be driven by the guards, it’s hard to fault any direction you find yourself going in. In this case I am going to tighten the purse strings as I perfectly comfortable just dropping down to the cheapest option among the four; Kyle Lowry($8,200 DK, $7,700 FD). It’s not like Lowry is a bargain you have to save where you can and the sacrifice isn’t that large as he is averaging 18.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
We are still waiting on the statuses of both Ben Simmons (knee) and Joel Emblid (back) for tonight’s game but Philadelphia will be short-handed regardless as they deal with COVID-19 issues. That led to an explosion of sorts from Tyrese Maxey ($4,700 DK, $5,200 FD) and it’s hard to ignore that performance. Maxey is not going to score 39 points while grabbing seven rebounds and handing out six assists in each game but it was nice to see what he is capable of. In his previous game Maxey did score 16 points with three rebounds and two assists in roughly half the time (21 minutes compared to 44) so maybe Saturday wasn’t that far off? We need to maintain some levity here but, at least for tonight, we can definitively say that Maxey will have a large role for Philadelphia and his price doesn’t bring with it too much risk.
From an offensive perspective Myles Turner ($6,200 DK, $7,400 FD) doesn’t entirely jump off the page with 13 points and 5.6 rebounds per game but he plays about 31 minutes a game and has some offensive upside. But we can’t ignore the 3.4 shots he is blocking per game along 1.4 steals. Over the last three games Turner has really emerged as a shot blocking machine with 15 and he is a solid mid-tier center option if Vucevic is too expensive for your roster construction and you don’t feel comfortable with Wagner.
Fresh off a triple-double here comes LaMelo Ball ($7,000 DK, $7,400 FD) as the rookie faces a reeling Knicks team after they lost to Denver last night. Coming off the bench seems to agree with Ball and with 31 minutes in his last game, 28.4 for the season, playing time isn’t an issue. Ball’s 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise as it lines up with the rookie’s well-rounded skill set and what we have seen from him over the past few weeks. On the season Ball is averaging 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game and he is just getting started.
