The wide receiver position is where things could begin to get crazy. Unlike the running back position where there is a clear leader in each backfield, some teams could have three or four viable candidates each week. Of course, there are other teams that barely have any useful options at the position but you can go in multiple directions here. Do you spend up and take the true number one receiver? Or do you go for reliability in volume or touchdown and big-play upside?
Ideally, you would look for a balance of each of those characteristics but how you chose to construct your roster at the other positions will play a role in what direction you ultimately go in. Looking for values, and you will see that some are available, is key here. This is in addition to the standard practices of reviewing past performance, looking at the game script, and digging into the opposing defence among other things. With respect to the opposing defence and one on one matchups against opposing cornerbacks, this is something that will come into clearer focus as the season progresses.
For those who have yet to subscribe, what are you waiting for? Until then you will get one free pick to whet your appetite. Justin Jefferson ($7,000 DK, $8,000 FD) has seen the most targets over the last few weeks for the Vikings, and with them facing the Lions this week, I expect we will see another big week from him. In the previous meeting between the two teams, the Vikings didn’t need to throw much due to their running game, but I expect them to air it out more this time around.

Stefon Diggs ($8,100 DK, $8,500 FD) might be the hottest receiver in the league right now. He has three straight 130+ yard receiving games and he has four touchdowns in those three games as well. The Dolphins give up the most yards per reception in the NFL, so look for another big week from Diggs, he should be worth his freight, and I think there are enough good lower-priced receivers that you should be able to get him into your lineup.
Getting some shares of Colts receivers this week makes sense, T.Y. Hilton ($5,800 DK, $6,300 FD) is my preferred choice among them. Hilton is a player that can score multiple touchdowns, and rack up big yards quickly, and with the Colts taking on the Jags this week, there should be lots of yards and touchdowns to go around. You should look to stack Hilton with other Colts this week if you can.
Davonte Adams ($9,200 DK, $9,400 FD) is the most expensive receiver on the slate this week. The Packers need the win to secure the top seed in the NFC, so I expect them to try and come out fast, and that likely means lots of Adams early in the game. He does come with risk though, as the Packers will want to run the ball a lot if they get up in the game, but with both the Saints and the Seahawks in the late games as well, they won’t have the luxury of not playing Adams at all.
With the Texans taking on the Titans this week, I look for Brandin Cooks ($6,900 DK, $7,300 FD) to have himself another nice day. Cooks is the big play guy for Houston and he is coming off a big day with 110 receiving yards, and a touchdown, which was predicted right here this time last week. The Titans’ defence isn’t good, so look for lots of yards and another touchdown for Cooks this week.
It feels a little dirty saying this but I think Antonio Brown ($5,500 DK, $6,000 FD) could have a big week this week. The last time the Bucs faced the Falcons, Brown saw seven targets and had 93 yards. The Bucs want this win, and the best way to beat the Falcons is through the air. You’re going to get Brown at a discount over Mike Evans, which makes Brown a nice GPP play this week.
