Congratulations to Martin Laird who returned to the winner’s circle last week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open 261 (-23) 1st place at TPC Summerlin in a three-way playoff over Austin Cook and Matthew Wolff ($10,000 DK $11,200 FD).
This week at (Shadow Creek )the Tom Fazio designed course will play to a Par of 72 at 7,560 yards, without much rough, but tree-lined fairways with water coming into play on nine holes, along with undulating, fast bent grass greens are its defense. Justin Thomas ($10,800 DK $11,700 FD) is the 2019 defending champion when it was last played at Nine Bridges in South Korea. Due to Covid-19 restrictions Shadow Creek will be hosting (The CJ Cup ) only for this year, filling in for Nine Bridges. For this week Jon Rahm ($11,300 DK $11,900 FD) headlines both the DraftKings and FanDuel salary rankings with Dustin Johnson diagnosed with Covid-19 on Tuesday and knocking him out this week.

This week’s free choices in the B-List are Brian Harman ($7,200 DK $8,300 FD) who has had a hot hand of late T-13th place last week, has been strong in overall strokes gained, around the greens and with the putter. The other B-List value is Corey Conners ($6,900 DK $8,100 FD) who has very strong strokes gained numbers in ball striking, tee to green, and on approach. With this being a long course, his ball striking skills will give him an advantage on the majority of the field and he should have a top 10 to 20 tournament finish as long as he can manage the undulating greens. In the C-List category Tom Hoge ($6,100 DK $7,100 FD) is a great value and I believe is under the radar in this strong field. A player worth taking a chance on this week is Joohyung Kim ($6,400 DK $7,300 FD), the South Korean 18-year-old sensation that without a cut should play loose and aggressive. It won’t be surprising if he finishes in the top half of the field, having the youthful exuberance and confidence that a victory on the KPGA Tour brings.
Thereare severalquality picks that are very undervalued throughout the field, but especially in the B-List grouping, which is deeper than usual this week with a limited field of high performers. Many have stellar performance records, have played well recently on similar style golf courses, and will emerge as players to watch to win. I have picked the winner in four of the last nine weeks and many of my C-List picks are placing in the top 10 to 20, including a win for Stewart Cink at the Safeway event. A-List DFS Picks for The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek: 2020
This week more of the top-rated PGA Tour players are joining in on the competitive 2020-’21 PGA Tour Season. This will allow you to build a winning and unique roster with players down the A-List, B-List and yes, even down into the C-List category. DFSExperts will add to the obvious statistical analysis, with deeper research and the eyeball test. These details and trends from the entire field are only possible to come from someone that is intimately familiar with competitive golf, that is willing to go beyond the numbers and reaches the depth and breadth of the competitor and person to be out in front of positive results.
I believe in the top 25 salary range at and above $8,200 DK, at or above $9,400 FD, Jon Rahm ($11,300 DK $11,900 FD), Justin Thomas ($10,800 DK $11,700 FD), Rory McIlroy ($10,600 DK $11,800 FD), Xander Schauffele ($10,300 $11,500 FD) and Matthew Wolff ($10,000 DK $11,200 FD) are the most likely to find the victory circle this week based on a combination of their ball striking, recent form, and short game skills. Any one or two of these top salary players are good cornerstone to your lineup this week. Most of the top 20 are appropriately priced and should be competitive for a top 10 finish, however I do feel Jason Day ($8,300 DK $9,300 FD) is a fade this week due to a few missed cuts in recent weeks and doesn’t seem to be on point for a top 20 finish.
B-List DFS Picks for The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek: 2020
Joaquin Niemann ($7,500 DK $8,800 FD), Russell Henley ($7,100 DK $8,500 FD) and Corey Conners ($6,900 DK $8,100 FD) are a great value at these prices, all three possessing strong ball striking credentials, with strokes gained tee to green, and on approach. When the putter is cooperating, all have the potential to win as well. Marc Leishman ($6,8000 DK $7,800 FD) has not been on point for months and I would not pick him this week.
C-List DFS Picks for The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek: 2020
I believe Joel Dahmen ($6,500 DK $7,400 FD) and Brendan Steele ($6,500 DK $7,600 FD) are not normally in the C-List category, but with a limited field this week they both are solid choices for a top 20 finish and are an excellent value at these prices. Tom Hoge ($6,100 DK $7,100 FD) is an excellent bargain at this price, as he has had many top 10 and 20 finishes since the restart on Tour. He has the skillset to excel and to be a contender this week at Shadow Creek. No-go’s in the C-List category this week are the $6,000 DK players and $7,000 FD players with just a few exceptions. Too many cuts missed and poor recent form throughout this group.
